Bait-Tech's versatile N-Tice Meaty Mix groundbait

Over the past couple of weeks we have taken a close look at the range of excellent meat baits offered by the Bait-Tech stable; this time it’s the perfect groundbait to complement them.

In these halibut pellet and fishmeal-dominated days it is all too rare to find a specialist groundbait to complement a meat hookbait but in the N-Tice meaty Mix Bait-Tech have achieved just that.

OK, so there is fishmeal present, and it helps to give excellent binding properties as well as attraction, but as soon as you open the bag the overwhelming aroma is a nose-blasting meatiness from the premium grade meat proteins in the mix and it is certainly different to anything I’ve come across in a long while – different in a good way!

Like many of the groundbaits we have looked at in the Bait-Tech range this one is versatile depending upon how you mix it. There is certainly enough stickiness in the mix to create a good method ball which will not break up in flight but mixed in advance and just a little drier it makes the perfect, light and fluffy feed for cage feeders. It will hold pellets and particles perfectly but I reckon grating, or riddling, in some meat or polony is the ideal partner.

On my day out with it I added a bit of ground hemp, some riddled meat and a little brown crumb to create a more explosive mix as I was on a commercial and looking to get a decent cloud of attraction in the water and coupled with a piece of punched Bait-Tech boosted luncheon meat I caught fish into double figures with great regularity. On the rivers for my barbel fishing I would mix it slightly differently to create a heavier mix and the packaging has excellent mixing instructions if you are in any doubt as to how to get the best from it.

As well as feeder work it is the perfect ingredient for stick mixes and it creates a great and intensely scented meat dusting powder – either for cupping out small dice or coating / frying big lumps for barbel. Although I didn’t try it myself Bait-Tech also say it makes a terrific paste too, and on the evidence I’ve seen I see no reason at all to doubt that.
