I passed some on to well-known charter skippers I know for Bass fishing.
They haven't reported back (I suspect it has not been used much as almost all anglers use their own favourite and the skippers don't get to fish themselves as often as they'd like)
looking for an alternative to Xcelon or Siege ? Rok-Max (Truro) are selling Diamond Illusion which is very abrasion resistant, very low stretch (about a third of most monos) and fairly fine. Unfortunately they don't make it in less than "8 lb" (real b.s., unknotted, 12lb) but they do also sell "10 lb" "12 lb" and "16 lb" [and also "20" and "30"] - in each case about 50% stronger than the label says. It is a bit wiry and has some short-term memory (the coils from the spool go if you pull it straight between your hands) but if you like low-stretch without going to braid it is worth a look.

Krystonite:- back in October 2004, I bought some from specialist-tackle.co.uk (linked from this site)
I've since bought some from Veals (not Veals Mail Order), but I notice they're positioning it like it isn't going to sell well, this year (2006)...but they've not reduced the price.

Sorry, joined the thread late, (just when everyones lost the thread and starts talking nonsense), in a match up last year with GR60 it came second for brute strength and abrasion resistance, other than that I liked it.
|
 |
any sites sell krystonite in 6lb ? tried but cant find it anywhere, everywhere seems to start in 8lb
|
 |
from the product description on this site: Description: A fluorocarbon coated co-polymer mainline available in 8lb, 10lb, 12lb, 15lb and 18lb breaking strains on 1000m spools. Prices from £14.99 to £18.99.
Most shops only show the 8,10,12 and 15
I think if you hunt around on the internet you may be able to find 20lb b.s., but not less than 8

I thought Kryston flouro was the bees knees, until today! Tench fishing, 10lb to 6lb Kryston (Graham supplied me with it). First fish 6lb 8oz new pb, second and last fish (two bites all day!) the hooklink broke at the knot to the swivel (grinner).
Gutted doesn't describe how I feel! I tied the mainline to swivel with a Palomar, but then have to use a grinner for the hooklink because you can't pass the swivel through the loop to achieve another Palomar.
Any suggestions? Please.

I think I just worked it out myself. Tie the hooklink first, with palomar to swivel, then pass the whole lot through to achieve palomar knot to mainline swivel. Fiddly I think, but it should work?
