Cheers Ron , I must say i'm very tempted. I've been tying away and fiddling with my gear for ages now. my local put and take opens March 1st so i'm all ready to go. What about some FM fish ins further south ??

What's the nearest trout water to Reading Al?

Isn't there one near Theale?
Reading to Chesterfield(according to the AA ) is 151 miles
Show/hide user stats
Ah well you see Ed I normally take the scenic route, avoiding the motorways.

Sorry about the delayed reply Ron. Yes the nearest trout fishery to me is Haywards farm in Theale. It's the site of the sportfish shop too. it is expensive in there but the guys are qualified and helpful. There are two lakes there a small catch and release pond and the larger ( 10 acres i think ) main lake. Apart from that there is Farmoor in oxford, Felix farm in Binfield and sheephouse farm in Maidenhead. How about you? Is Preston manor your local??

How much do they charge for a day Al?

I have to visit Reading regularly and I might decide to combine a day's fishing with a day's business.

Maybe we could meet up.

I have many local waters.

Press Manor, Thryberg Resevoir, Lakeside,
Ladybower, Lindholme, Toft Newton, Barlow and a few others

Most are less than £15 a day.

i'am sorry for my tardiness in repling to this,i missed out on the last one,so i dont
want to miss this one,it will give me the chance to get back into flyfishing.and i've
just won a spanking new Grey’s GRX 10ft 6/7 weight fly rod in a compotition,i've
also got a diawa 10ft 7/8 rod i can bring
as a spare but i'll have to hit e-bay for
some reels and get some flyies and lures in
plus most inportantly someone may have to
give me a quick refreasher lesson as i'am a
bit rusty casting wise.

Hello again Ron, sorry once more for the delay in replying. I've been off sick for a while with flu so not been able to use the works pc. Off the top of my head its £25 for a 4 fish limit on the main lake and £15 for a days catch and release on the small lake. It's a bit more expensive than what you're used to Ron but that's the south for you. As for meeting up Ron, yeah i'd love to !! I work shifts so let me know well in advance and we'll sort it out.

Would it be possible to do some really basic fly tying instuction for the absolute novices like me? It would be most appreciated.

No problem Wayne, just come along.

Andy Wright's widow and his father will be attending to present the trophy.
Show/hide user stats
That will be good.

I'm looking forward to it.

I assume sport tickets are purchased on the day ?
unless you can hide when he comes for the money .......
Show/hide user stats
If it's the same format as last year, we'll buy our tickets in the lodge before we start fishing.

Yes Barney, they do a C&R Ticket. Think it was £8 last year. Might have gone up a bit though.

About 9 quid at the moment. I like to take 3 fish away for my supply of omega 3

Show/hide user stats
they put omega 3 in dog food, is there something you're not telling us ron?
