What would you have given our kid at GV when he won?

A clip round the ear!

"PVA Bags" don't be daft!

Anyway, the way you guys are going on, you'd think there was a bit of competition in the air on Saturday.  Somebody will want "pools money" next!

Guys, to raise the spirits a little, I have to confess to having a little fish yesterday in the interests of research as I have some days to take before changing jobs and thought why not.Got there for 2 and the rain had just stopped.Fished the method off peg 41 until about 1930 and must have had about 17/18 carp plus 4 tench and half a dozen skimmers for probably about 100lb +.The bream had obvioulsy spawned.Lots of fish showing and guys fishing nearer the dam had a few as well so hopefully the fish are spread out.Whether it fishes like this tomorrow remains to be seen.

We have pegs 13 to 54.

Some camo clad carp guys turned up and fished further up.Given most of the lake was empty why they had to fish next to each other god only knows.Still fishing off the top they proceeded to hook a large swan which the hauled to the bank much to the annoyance of the accompanying cob and distress of 6 or 7 little signets.Given they must have seen these birds coming as they had swam past me earlier, why the f... did not they take their bait out or at least strike them off the hook! One of them then ignored the signs and fished behind the boards into the jungle. The mentality of some anglers saddens me to the core sometimes.

A very funny thing also happened. After I had unhooked one of the carp. I dropped the feeder and what I am certain was an unbaited hook just in front of the platform whilst I slipped the carp back.Next thing I know, the rod is diving under the boards with a 3lb tench attached.Maybe the secret bait is not to have one at all!

Good luck all tomorrow. However it fishes, it is always a great FM occasion.

Anyone going tomorrow from around my area (Warrington, Wigan, Preston, etc) and NOT staying for the evening meal want to share transport ?

Gary, if it makes any difference, there is no meal as such, its just a few sausages and chips in bowls to wash down a  beer. Isn't Bryan Baron up near you?

Nigel,

Its not the meal as such its the time, I'm on a 21st the same night and will need to get back at a decent time as I'm taking the wife and daughters......its about 2.5 hrs drive for me so I cant hang around after picking up the trophy ;o)

you lot have obviously never fished against mankbait,  his spawney git style luck combined with his 5 year old peperami and furry groundbait will beat many of you hands down.  He's down at Banks and Burr's now telling them how he's going to open a can of whoop ass on ya.
