Matt, the difficulty with the short method hooklinks especially with the pre-strteched types such as power-line is that there shortness means there is very little give if a fish does run off, especially if you are clipped up and cannot yield line.
|
 |
Yes Nigel. I think the lack of stretch in the short link was a key factor. In hindsite I should have either used a regular mono or used an mehod feeder fitted with pole elastic. All part of the learning curve. I have the clipping up problem sorted. I tie a short length of pole elastic to the mainline and then put the tag of pole elastic under the clip. Either the tag pulls free from hte clip or the knot (overhand) slips free from the line.

BREAKFAST ARRANGEMENTS For those who have signed up for breakfast on the breakfast thread, it will be at the The Brasenose Arms from 0800.I am hoping they might agree to start it a little earlier but have not heard back from them yet.If the start time changes, I will post so check out the thread tomorrow. The location of the pub can be found by following the link but if you are coming down the A423 from Southam then take the first left off the A423 after the Clattercote turning towards Cropredy and turn right at the bottom of the road at a T junction and then follow the road into Cropredy until you see the pub on your right. If you are approaching from Banbury turn right at a sign I think for Great Bourton and Cropredy.Go through Great Bourton and follow the road into Cropredy.Bear left at the bottom and the pub will be on your left. If anyone gets lost ring me 07879 623306. PRESENTATION ARRANGEMENTS Same place from 17.15/17.30 ish after the match.Sausage and Chip nibbles courtesy of FM and the pleasure of seeing whether the trophy will be presented to Stu Dexter or Graham Marsden !

Anyone know what the fishery rules are ? ; How many keepnets? Carp to be kept seperate from silvers? Floating bait banned or not? etc, etc FISHERY RULES (Verbatim from the Clattercote Match Booking Form) - Two keepnets are required, one for carp and tench, one for silver fish (or one for carp and one for tench if not targeting silver fish)
- Weigh-in mats will be provided by the 'on-site' bailiff together with instructions on weigh-in procedure
- Nets must be staked out properly
- When weighing-in please avoid damage to fish
- NEVER place fish on platforms or boards
- Barbless hooks only - maximum hook size 8
- No braid is permitted as hooklength
- All carp and tench must be land-netted. No swinging to hand
- Waders will be needed when fishing later on in the year (ie, low water levels)

And i will be hoping to do the double this weekend.

Glad to see the food is well sorted because the fishing will be dire... I have no intention of fishing seriously whatsoever. if anyone needs a good book to while away the hours please let me know.
