I've got a cunning plan Nigel  and a secret bait............

Hmmmmm something tells me it may be sardine and reddy brek related.....

Just to say can't get the Saturday off, my services (such as they are) are needed  elsewhere, so best wishes for a blinder of a day to you all !

Cheers

Sounds like its going to be the same as last year then.
my tic tacs for the match will be to spod lots of little white mints out to a designated area then fish a little white mint hair rigged with a small pva bag of the same mints.

Shame you can't make it Windy.

No sardines, no reddy brek........

I will of course share my recipe for my secret bait..................if it works

We've got the car park side again, but the bailiff couldn't tell me what peg numbers we've got yet.

Can't wait, getting all excited now .

Oh my plan is well formed and this year I plan to fish the method better than I ever have before.

I might even land a fish

Thanks to FM and those brilliant videos from the teach-in day, Stu Dexter's know-how, also the other method feeder articles by Frothey and Woody and every other article I've studied and scrutinised over the last few days.

I've got beat Steve and Jeff at least!

Oh ah, throwing down the gauntlet are we Mr Pikey?
Show/hide user stats

You knows it!

Ha, seriously I'll be happy to have anything to weigh in for a change.

I'm feeling confident though, I even bought a riddle today!

Riddle shmiddle.....Ha!

I remember years ago in Ireland on the Shannon, I riddled and got it sooperfluous.

This Cockney geezer next to me had the lumpiest groundbait you've ever seen (golf balls!) "what a knob" we said.......................and he blew me away!

Get the end tackle right (as Matt B says) and the rest will follow!

Roll on Saturday

Pikey,

I could have told you one of those for nothing!

Show/hide user stats

Oh bum.

Never mind, at least I'll look like I know what I'm doing.

My secret hookbait flavour should have those carp & tench queueing up for the keepnet.

Something to think about chaps:

During the teach in I was smashed a few times on 7lb 6oz 3" hook length.

Also had a 14 Drennen Super Specialist Hook straightened.

Matt, that big knob on the front(or back) of your reel is known as the drag and is useful in such situations

LOL

Or refer to the knots thread

Show/hide user stats

Thanks guys you're such a big help

The drag was set (a 5lb fish took line) and the line didn't break at the knot.

Matt buy some fresh line or at least use some that hasnt been on your reels for two seasons.  If you still get broken up upgrade your line to a higher BS.

There is no way you should get broken up with 7lb 6oz hook lengths I presume they were the 3 " Korum jobbies that Graham reccomended perhaps you got a bad batch.

Show/hide user stats

The mainline was brand new 8lb Drennan Super Specialist mono (it didn't break)

The hook length was brand new Reflo Powerline.

Tied either knotless knot or 5 turn grinner.

I've always had confidence in my own knots.

Basically I think it was a big fish that bolted.

Anyone know what the fishery rules are ? ; How many keepnets? Carp to be kept seperate from silvers? Floating bait banned or not? etc, etc
