About 12 turned up. About 25 fish were landed and about 20 released would be about right.
Press Manor is not a dead easy water like some. You have to get your act together to catch regularly. That's why I like it so much.
I am thinking of somewhere like Toft Newton or even Ranskill for another fish-in.
The waters of the South are just too expensive for some.

How about other fisheries like Elinor,Ravensthorpe,Cound,Ellerdine,Dearnford Hall which are all in the midlands area.
 Why not.
Tell us about them Ross, and if there is a cheap pub to stay at for the night near any.
there is always Pennine Fisheries too
We could have a night session on there .........that would be different

Hey, Eddie, you'll catch on that !!!
Just to say thanks to Ron for organising the day, it really was good fun despite the weather towards the end. I didn't catch anything or have a bite, however I did learn to cast a line thanks to the expert tuition of the guy that's owns the fishery (sorry, can't remember his name).
By the way Eddie, did you return that car or are you going to respray it and keep hold of it......!!!!
It was good to meet some of the guys.
And I wonder if Graham has made full use of that damsel he got tied to by Andy.......or have I got that a bit wrong somewhere !!!
That was the other thing, thanks also to Andy for the fly tying demo, truly excellent as well. It's something else when someone can sit there an dwith great skill and dexterity, knock up a perfect fly in a matter of seconds, seemed like it anyway. Skive had the one fly tied from a crisp packet (i kid you not) but is so adverse to keeping hold of nature, he let it go, over one of the stone walls that surround the fishery.
Thanks again Ron, this is definitely something I will be pursuing, at least until I catch my first trout, so that could be a good few years.

Ellerdine would be an excellent choice for the next Flyfishing Fish-in. A choice of three pools, cafe on site with brews and snacks, including bacon butties, and a good selection of flies for sale as well as other tackle. Ellerdine Lakes

 Looks OK to me.
T'other side of MacWallet country
Big thanks to Ron for organising the day.
Learnt a lot, and can now cast a lot better and further.
Thanks to Andy for the fly tying demonstration.
Also thanks to Adrian for not making me look the bogeest pilock there(only joking).
Good to meet up with some more FM members.

Hey Skive .......You'll catch on that ....
You liked that one with the blue colour .....
Ron What were those things I need to get
Gink Xink Fullers earth and something mixed
and some kind of Mucillin (they do different types ....)
Graham is right about ellerdine, they also sell other bits of tackle as well.Only fished there once but am planning to take my 2young sons to fish over easter on the novice pool. Then once they have caught i will go on to fish the others. It is a well run fishery & also has a coarse lake.
 Adrian -----Good wasn't it ????
Get on the cheesy cheddars !!!!! You'll catch on them !!!!!!!!
Go to a chemist and ask them for some Fuller's Earth. It's dirt cheap and you can buy enough to last for years for a pound or two I guess.
Then mix it into a putty with washing up liquid and a touch of glycerine.
If you pull your leader through this it will degrease it and remove the shine at the same time. Your leader will then cut through the surface film. which can be important on calm days. You don't want a length of floating leader next to a dry fly. The fish see it and won't touch your fly.
and what kind of mucillin?? There are different types
Ed, there is only one type I know and that is in a blue tin. It makes line float.
 Ed. 'you'll catch on that'
