Why are there no attachments which can be used with reclining or bed chairs such as those which are available for boxes. I enjoy my fishing using a reclining chair, it would be so much easier to have say a feeder arm extension at some venues where it is impossible to get a bank stick into the ground or there is insufficient space. Any comments or suggestions (clean ones, that is) would be gratefully received. Just a note I have a mate whose chair looks like a 'Heath Robinson' 'Tardis' with the bits he has made and bolted on - it would be so much better custom built.

There is such an attachment, can't remember what its called, the "chair mate" or something like that, sells for about £22. Its normally advertised in The AT classified section.

Davies Angling in Staines sell a system like you describe. Korum have recently released a chair to which there are custom made bits and pieces such as feeder rests.Picked one up in Simpsons of Turnford , then put it down again, too heavy for my liking.

Thanks Mark, I have been on the web, the only 'chair mate' is a form of seat padding to make the seat more comfortable.

Thanks also to Deecy, have been online and had a look at the Korum/Preston seat, it may be what I want, although I didn't really contemplate buying a new seat. It actually looks like the frame for a box with a seat slung between the legs. I must say that from the pictures available I would tend to agree with you with regard to the weight and it looks cumbersome.

Anyway thanks guys, all suggestions welcome.

Then the Davies Angling thing is what you want, they don't have a web site but you will find the phone number via Google.

My mate bought something from Bosfish, for his wheelchair. I'm certain it could be used on a chair as you want it. I'll ask him who makes it and it's proper name, though I think its made by Drennan??

I was wrong(again!) it's made by Penrose. Hope it proves to be of some use to you BJ.

B.J says -:
Why are there no attachments which can be used with (reclining or bed chairs)
.......................................
Would that be for use inside or outside of the bivvy?
If inside you can get a realtree colostomy bag, to save you getting up.
Are you being serious? (you did say for a bedchair)

Alternatively, you could do worse than ask B.Roberts, as he is the resident F.M. expert on fishing from a bedchair.

Thanks Deecy, I will contact Davies Angling and see what they have.

Ian, I have been on the bosfish site and viewed the Penrose attachment, that looks something like, although it is an adaption to take an attachment. I will need to study it more. I have a difficulty in as much as I live in Spain, I don't get to the U.K., all that often so I can't just pop in to a tackle shop and have a look at what's available or what's suitable, plus not all the info. or pictures on line give a clear picture of the product.

Hiya Baz, No I do not want the sort of attachments that you suggest. I used both RECLINING and BED CHAIR as reference points in my query as they both have legs which are at an angle to the ground when set up - this then makes it difficult or even impossible to use attachments such as a feeder arm, as these attachments are designed for use on the vertical legs of boxes. I'm sorry if I mislead you.

BJ Why don't you make your own? There are loads of Metalware Shop or Scarp yards for metal. It will be a lot cheaper doing it this way.

I am not what you might call a practical person with my hands. I might have a go at a bit of design and then see if I can get someone to make the bits up and fit them. If I were to attempt it,I have visions of drilling holes in the wrong places and having the frame of the seat collapse and fold up around me.

BJ - I asked about this in my local tackle shop lasy year and he dug out the Penrose catalogue. There was an adaptable arm in there that did exactly what you were on about. It was about £20 but rather heavy steel looking thing. I've done a google search but can find no direct link to their website. Check out your tackle shop and see if he has a catalogue. I literally only threw out mine 10days ago.

Hiya Feeling Tranquil, Ian Cloke gave me details of the Penrose attachment and the web site for bosfish who have details and pictures of the gear. it looks to be O.K., although it is an attachment / adapter to take attachments. My quest was to find attachments made for chairs, if you get my drift. Many thanks for taking the time to mention Penrose gear.

I've got the Korum deluxe chair, very comfy, not bought all the bells and whistles for it yet but there are quite a lot of attachments for it, apparently they had some kind of issue which meant the spacer arm was held up but they advised me should be available soon, or there is a preston (their sister company) version out now. They seem to have missed out on making a drinks holder attachment though :0P

BJ.... so much depends on what type of chair you have... has it square or round section frame bars ? I have made all my own fittings for my different seats/boxes, its easy peasy if you just sit and think, the easiest thing to do is to go to your local Ironmongers, and look for some nylon pipe brackets that are designed to fix water pipes to the wall, if they are a bit big, warm em up and close the arms a bit, if a bit small, warm em up and spread the arms, then bolt any bits you want to them, there is so much you can do if you just think a bit first..make something yourself, and it will be exactly what you want, buy something ,it may only be 50% of what you want.
