im currently using an abu 6000 mag, but its not large enough to cope with sea fishing from roker peir in the north east, im looking to upgrade to either a penn 535 mag, diawa sl30sh or a abu 7000, just wondering if any one can give me some independant feedback on these reels.
cheers, Danny

The abu7000 are tried and tested and speak for themself. The Diawa SL30sh i have never used had a SL20sh which was a good strong reel. If the Abu6000 is to small then i think the Penn535 will be to small also. This is also a excellent reel.

I personally prefare the Abu's as i have small hands and struggle to wrap them around the Penn and Diawa's

i use a abu 6500 mag elite great reel but i also use a slosh 30 which is superb for the money,

for roker pier any of the sloshs are ideal, abu 7000 is favourite and the penn 525 or 535, are also fine born and bred there mate still go up for a fish and i use penn and diawa, keep yur 65 reel for the wear in summer theres no lifting like there is on the pier

I have all 3 of the reels mentioned and if you really want something for the rough stuff go for the slosh as long as you have reasonable sized hands as it sits high off the rod my second choice would have to be an abu 7500 as opposed to te 7000 because of the higher gear ratio I could never get on with my 535 mag

I have all three of the above reels, I much prefer the Slosh, Indeed I have 2 of them, the inner workings are much simpler than the 7000,and they are not prone to any sort of corrosion.I use the Sloshes for Rock fishing.I prefer the 7000 for uptiding , I have converted it by removing the levelwind, which frankly is a Pain, its drawbacks are that it has alloy sideplates, and spools, they are a pain for corrosion, even if you flush them off after every trip as I do.. the Penns are "reel" workhorses, and tough as old boots.I use the Penn when Congering off the rocks in Cornwall.
I have a place for each of the named reels, and they all fit the bill for what I use them for

just bought a slosh 30 holds more line than a penn 535 or525. excelent reel used it of roker pier and the rat house.tryed it today of s sheilds pier in the gale force winds and brilliant.
