In the last few months I have attempted to order fishing gear from 3 different high profile mail order shops and found the service very bad. I had to chase up every order after 7 days to learn that they were waiting for stock to arrive. They don't advise you of any delays when confirming the order. I cancelled two of the three orders after further broken promises. When the third finally arrived (in Spain)the expensive rod was only wrapped in a crushed 'B' flute corrugated container instead of a plastic tube with the result that half of the rings were bent. Also Three out of four reels of 10lb line were only 3.3lb! My last order was from Bennets who have never let me down. They delivered to my daughter's UK address within 5 days!

Bennett's website is still of line.

I think they may have suffered from the flood waters.

Expect a big "Water Damaged Stock Sale" soon.

Bennetts (and Calcotts) are between the River Don and The Wicker, as shown on TV. I imagine they've been flooded.

there's one on the website, but that's probably down and the fones anre probably still underwater at the moment anyway so i'd hang on a bit.

I mentioned damaged stock the other day to my boss at work, he nearly spat his coffee saying, "You what!? How can it be water damaged!? Ain't fishing gear designed to use in water!?"!!!
Show/hide user stats
Have read on one forum that Bennetts has 3 foot of water inside the shop so I guess they are not trading at the moment. I think thats why the web site is down.

methinks you might have the kernel of an argument there milo.

I would think damaged stock would mean that packaging that goods are sold in are damaged and in this case water damaged.
All that dirty water will mark some goods too like chair fabrics or rod bags or back packs.
So Bennetts will have a case for their insurance company as goods can not be sold as in new and good condition.

That was the basis of my response, Stuart, damaged packaging and fabrics. I'm sure we're all together hoping that the affected areas get back to normality as soon as possible. I can't even imagine what it must be like for those who've lost so much over the past week.

With you on that Milo. Can't imagine what some are feeling and they forcast even more rain.

I got a Shimano reel from them,it was a prise had a choice of tackle to pick, sent it back when it went wrong.

two months later i got a letter along with an invoice for £46 for the repair.

I rang Bennetts to ask why i got the invoice, dunno. you should have got a new reel.

The letter said i would not get the reel until the bill was paid. All in all it took 4 months to sort out. I have never got anything from them since, and i picked another bit of tackle, so i knew i did'nt get a dodgy reel.
