Hi

I'm looking to get back into fishing after a long absence and was hoping for some advice regarding a rod and reel combo.

Firstly, will a Fox Warrior carp rod be ok with a Nash BR6000 reel for beginners carp angling? If so is there a maximum weight of fish I can expect to catch without having problems?

Also, for a general float rod, I'm looking at the Abu Enticer or the Shimano Hyperloop. I will mainly be fishing lakes and/or canals and am looking for tench, bream roach etc, anything really from 2-5lbs. I would quite like to be able to use a feeder ocassionally as well.

As for reels to go with this rod, I'm looking at a Shimano Exage. Are these any good and what is the difference between a 1000, 2500 or 4000 model?

Apologies for all the questions but I thought it best to try and cover it all on one thread instead of starting three or four threads.

A lot of questions and possibilities there mate.
I have seen the Fox Warrior rod and it seems like a sturdy tool for the job. But that is about all I know about it.

Personally I would go for Shimano's in both rods and reels. 2.5 test curve rod and a 6010 baitrunner reel. Or the Harrison rods.

Let's hope this starts the ball rolling for you. If not I'll come back and we can get confused together. (o

Personaly i love my Shimano STC exage 330 (£50) not all the money in the world, well made, good for floats, bigger lures, light ledgering, and magic for freelining live/dead bait. if you like to go by bike or fish the marks others are too lazy to climb down to, the 70mm tube it packs into makes it a winner.
I use it with a Shimano Biomaster 6000 bought from plat.co.jp in japan. great reel - like a stradic but holds loads more line.
