 Can anyone tell me what a "Feeder Reel" is supposed to be?
I know of centre pin reels and fixed spool reels and multiplyer reels. but what the heck is a "feeder reel"?

 What reel is best for feeder fishing is probably what Stuart means, but we still need a little more info than that. What venues are you fishing? What species are you hoping to target? What rod are you going to be using this reel with?

 Many reels wil suffice Stuart, depends on your budget mate!
Shimano reels will be top of many peoples lists, including mine, although some okuma reels are cheaper and now come with a 5 year guarantee.
I saw a belting abu in my local not long back, nice and compact with a baitrunner facility for 30 quid, it felt the business.
Have a look at the user review section as well, the most useful part of the site!

Thanks Eddie for your advice ill have a browse round the tackle shop and see what my budget will strech too, but like you i like the look of the shimino reels...

Be sure to check the reviews mate, and when you decide on a model, post what you intend to buy and ask opinions of the anglers who post here, you'll get good advice!

 I realy rate Brownings reels stuart, for my light/medium feedering I have a Syntec stx 620, lovely little compact reel, tough as a brick and as smooth as a babies arse, and for the price of a shimano you can get two.

 i have just a badger mastercast 6050 reel cos i couldnt quite afford a shimano does any one know if they are any good or should i have waited i bought it for my medium feeder rod also

hi beecy i have just bought it today but im considering going back tommorow to get the shimano instead i just wondered if badgers were any good i can tell you its a nice looking reel though but seems a little stiff when you try to wind the bale arm over
