I reckon the 6 series would do you mate! Specialist tackle are doing 6000Re series for under 50quid at the moment mate, its advertised on the site somewhere!

I would use the 5000 size for Barbel. Agree with Eddie the 6000 size if carp are also fished for.

I currently use the 6000 as i bought them to do both jobs. Now i have some 10000 for the carp when i replace i will get 5000

I have a 5000 which i use for carp and barbeling. Cant rate this reel highly enough.Superb.

ditto the above, I use the 6000B's for short range Carp + Tench/Bream/Barbel. excellent kit.

I have just used a set of 8000s for a french carp trip. landed cats to 84lb & carp to 54lb from 200vds range, on 15lb line. If my experience is anything to go by, you could trust your life to these reels - go for the 6000s as you will always have something in reserve.

5000 for barbel, 6000 for pike carp, the 6000 are too heavy for barbel especialy if you need to hold rod/ touch leger.Great reels last forever.

Do i have to get another Rod and if so what would be recommended.
