just thought i would let you folk out there about the superb polaroid glasses i purchaced this summer.
i was after some decent polariod glasses for fishing and driving and after trial and error with several makes including oakly, ray ban etc, i have found the perfect pair!!
serangeti do state that they make the best glasses in the world and they are right. i had read several items by top fly fishing experts about how good these where so i decided to track a pair down. i must state these glasses are not cheap but they are like no other brand on the market. the have glass photocromic lenses wich dont go clear but just get darker as it gets brighter!! they have superb frames with sprung ear pieces and come in several styles. and the polarization is out of this world, unlike any other sunglasses i have ever worn, and thats a fact!!!
these are made in the USA and used to retail in the shops at well over £200.00!! but can be found on the net at around the £130.00 mark, yes they are still expensive i know but you only have one pair of eyes, so go on treat yourself you wont be disapointed.

I can certainly vouch for the make. I have a pair of Serengeti Drivers, and they really are exceptionally good sunglasses for driving, but they are not polaroids.
any chance of sending your old one to me

many thanks!!!

I`ve just been looking at the Serenegati website and the 555nm lenses are available polarized as here:

Can anyone else vouch for these before I spend my hard earned?
Cheers

hi steve,
i know that nobody semms to have got back to you mate, but i can really say that serengetti are the best, the polarization with these is fantastic. you will see things in the water that you would not see with other glasses!!
and thats a fact. they are allso superb for driving.

I have been using my Serengeti sunglasses for about two weeks. I can certainly say that they are outstanding in every way. The model "Argon" has the frames going through the lenses, so I worry a little that the lenses could crack. I have had terrible luck with Oakleys which makes the worse frames available. Many have fallen apart on me. If these Serengetis do hold up, frames and lenses I most certainly can recommend them as the very best in comfort and every thing else.

I had some serengetis a while back.

Fantastic quality, but due to them being manufactured from glass, wear them for hours at a time and they do start to feel heavy.

My last pair have been the Fox titaniums.Had them for about eighteen months and very impressed with them. Ultra lightweight, good polarisation and very comfortable.

Despite what I normally think of Fox stuff!
Optilabs still by far my favourites!

dont go to spec savers, paid £118 for a per of polerised glasses, and one of the lenses fell out, i did not no. so i never found it, they did not want to know, said it would cost £40 for another lense, told them to stu-------  it ill never deal with them again
Boots - buy a pair, get a pair free for £30.

They go for around the £50 mark on ebay

Mr Meldrew.

I have recently purchased 2 pairs of specs from Boots, both vari-focals and one polarised.

Buying them on the buy one get one "supposedly free" i still finished up paying 250 quid so im not sure ive got a bargain.

Fred Bonney-Where do you buy your Optilabs?

Woody-Which Boots local to you(and me),what glasses are you referring to?

Michael Howson-surely you are paying major bucks for the varifocals bit?

I must say I have bought polaroid glasses from SPORTFISH UK in Reading for £9 to £20 and they have done the job for me but thats not to say they are the best by any means.

Perhaps a member who really knows his stuff(optician) and also fishes could advise what glasses are best for the eyes which, considering how long we wear them must be worth knowing.

What lens colour is best?-I have always found yellow does it for me.....any comments???

I've used Serengeti as drivers, but after trying a friends I now use Smith Trace which are totally amazing.  They come with two lens, mine have Polar Brown and also a Polar Yellow and cost me £129.99, but I've read that I can buy all sorts of other lens if I need em.  The best thing is the way the lens are interchangeable, by twisting the arms the lens are ready to change, as I've had a few days now where I've started in my brown lens and had to switch to the yellows.(what a great summer)  As a bonus my wife thinks they are the coolest shades in the world!!
