Hi i'm up to buying a pair of new carp rods and i got an offer to get two Greys X-flite plus for £129 each...

are they worth it? what's your opinions on these rods? slim? thick? heavy? (since my local dealer don't sell Greys i need to know everything...)

I will mainly use them for short-medium distance fishing but i need them to fit all situations, is the 2.5lb enough or is the 2.75 to prefer? I tend to prefer light tackle...

If the 2.5lb is forgiving enough maybe it's possible to fish with braided lines without shockleader? What's your opinion on that?

hi m8 i have the greys x flight in the 2.75 tc and they are awesome long range/short range playing fish you feel every lunge the fish makes never used braid so cant comment on that one one thing i have learnt if its got greys on the label you cant go far wrong.

With greys you also get a lifetime guarantee.

Richard Tuner, how much are you able to cast with the 2.75lbs?

hi m8 i suppose its down to the individual but with the right lead and set up you should reach 100+yards but if your looking for more go for the 3lb tc to give you a bit more help but it is still down to how well you can cast .

i agree with richard the rod helps but it is mainly down to technique i have the x-flite+50`s in 3lb test curve excellent rods nice soft tips and progressive action .
