most of my
fishing was on a local canal.
perfecting good bite indication and shot patterns.
this was some time ago and i had used ultra(tm) floats. these were made from goose quill and were loaded floats.
that is they had a brass weight built into them and they took ordanary shot say 3 bb.
but because of the load in the base they were great to use.
i could catch good roach with these rigs
two bb shot under the float the other 4inches from hook back tangle shot Number 6 six inches above float.

I don't fish on my loacal canal (calder and hebble, horbury bridge) and i was wondering if thers any1 that could tell me how to get a good weight on it?

i caught 7 descent size roach in my local canal using a basic float rig unloaded float and some size 6 shot but watching the float all the time because they are shy feeders your float will just go under a few mms but be prepared to strike cause they suck it in then spit it out
