I am having trouble with my fishing... every time I cast, float or fly, the line coils and ruins my rig. How can I stop this????

Are you useing old line?
The only solution that I know of is to buy some new line. When you load it onto your reel, make sure it comes off the reel 'once loaded' the same way in which it came off the spool. Put only a dozen turns on your reel to begin with, then pull the line off your reel and see if it is still curling or not as it comes off. If it still curls, you have wound it on your reel the wrong way.

This may just be an myth but ive heard rubbing the line as long as it's not braid across your leg, should stop the curling

Hi James,

You could try a Gardner Spin-Doctor. It is a lead weight with grooves cut at an angle which when cast and retrieved unwind any adverser twist introduced by bait runners and clutches.

I would support Fruitbat-the Gardner Spin Doctor is just great for sorting out line-curl or line twist as it is also known-I tie mine on and cast it 30/40m minimum and then just retrieve slowly-I do this twice and it works a treat!

Trouble is,this sort of little jem tends to cease manufacture for no apparent reason so I would buy one now(they come in two weights)and just keep it in your bag at all times!I have used the heavy one with 12lb line(3/4casts)and it still worked.

I think(you can check the packaging)that they don't recommend too many casts otherwise it can add more twists than you started out with!!

Hope this helps!!!
