Hi Everyone (or anyone),
I have just returned to fishing after a long long lay off, and want to buy a couple of bite alarms for carp and general ledgering. I have been told that if I'm not bothered about fancy widgets and gizmo's, which I probably wont use, that the Fox Micron Warrior or Micron M are perfectly adequate. As my previous alarm, in 1972, was a Heron, and I'm not likely to be leaving my swim to compare camo gear with someone at the other end of the lake, thus not requiring Sat Nav to find my way back to my rods, I would be grateful for any advice on what to buy or what to avoid please?
Many thanks,
Geoff Dawe

Go for delkims mate, best alarms on the market.

Micron M's are brilliant for the price Geoff, i had 2 for about 2 years! only changed the battery when i sold them!

Theres no need for Delkims if you dont need the sensitivity, unless you have money to burn. Microns will last long and are perfectly adequate for your needs.

Go for a delk, listen to the tackle tart within. I brought one (could ovnly afford one at a time) and when I replace my other old one it will be for another delkim.

The Delks are the ones to go for if you intend to fish slack lines for carp or lightweight bobbins for eels, perch or zander. The Fox's are great value, robust and brilliant for heavy bobbins and rivers. Slack line can slip over the rollers on the Fox alarms though.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I note the fact that the Delkins are better for light runs and bobbins, but having looked at the relative prices I'm tempted to try the Micron M2, in the hope that it will be better than the M model it replaces. If I'm wrong I guess they will become my sons and I will move up to the Delkins, when I can afford them!
Thanks again to all.
