Dear Members,

I fished one month with the new Berkley Fireline Chrystal (12/00), and my experiences with the stuff are so devastating that I thouroughly inspected my guides and bale-arm roller! (Found nothing wrong).  I fished 5 session of 5-6 houres each (casting light lures) and now the line is complete gone! The firm, greasy coating is weared of and what rests is a grated, rough, unround 'skeleton' that  is very vulnarable and weak.

Here in Holland the experiences with this line seem to differentiate very widely and  I suspect this is caused by the way it is fished. Static fishing gives far better results as is to be expected.

Any comments on this from the users of this new - and pretty expensive! -  line?

Jan, I havn`t used this particular brand but I`ve had a few bad experiences with Berkley line in general. So because of this I now tend to "steer clear"  all Berkley line.

Although I know anglers who swear by it.

I use normal Fireline regularly, just refilled one spool today with 30lb. No problems.

That and Power Pro are the best there is. I'll remember what you say though Jan.

Tot ziens!

I've been trying it on my centre pin for trotting and I've been impressed so far.  It floats, its very thin for its breaking strain (I'm using 8lb and I can use it for everything from grayling to barbel).  It does 'stick' slightly in the surface film so you have to be careful when mending line.  I think I've had a few more hook pulls tha usual on grayling, but I'm not sure.
