I went out fishing at the weekend, I had two set ups, one with a micro barb and the other was barbless. I'd have to say that the hookholds on the micro barbed rig were tidier on all of the fish. I only had to use my carp Korda care kit twice and both times were for the barbless hooks. Not exactly scientific but I felt it confirmed my original opinion that if you know what you're doing then barbed patterns are better for the fish.

yes those were the ones.   I've just read that they were made by Ashima for Preston and have now been discontinued. The Pinched Barbless hooks had a small bump where the barb is normally situated so still had the advantages that a barbed hook had but were said to be much kinder than barbs for fish. I don't know why they were discontinued though.
