Andy just checked the spec for the Abyss.Looks OK as it has a bit of grunt in the mid section.Couple that with the Crosswire and the 6lb line and off you go. Good luck

Andy , not sure where you are fishing but you might find the fish will come into the harbour with the rising tide and disappear when it falls depending on water levels. If the harbour has good depth at most times they will probably be mooching around all day.Where I fish, I have always found the standing tide the best.Get a tide table as if time is limited 2 hours at the best time is better than 6 hours at the wrong time(obvioulsy!)

 Andy,
Some of the locals down at Christchruch harbour elongate their fly Spoons with the addition of half a dozen or so reflective beads.
Added to the 'worm' it makes for an irresistable Mullet bait.

Hi Nigel yea the harbour completely empties on low tide, just a puddle in the middle, the Isle of Wight has its own weather site on the internet, (isleofwightweather.co.uk) gives full tide times and weather info for all areas around the island and south coast of England so i just print each month off of that. hi Peter thanks for the info mate most welcome cheers

 Andy thanks for that info.

There's a DVD available featuring Mike Ladle called "The Mythical Mullet", good watch, worth looking out for. I paid a couple of ££ for the video a few years ago but have seen it in DVD format since.

Good price. Brace yourself though when watching it, there are some very dodgy shorts on view, not for those of a nervous disposition.... Stacks of Mullet information on Mike Ladle's web site, here http://www.mikeladle.com/osa.html
