Acquired a few corks too many did we?
Cork is now getting scarce again. This is because of the huge demand for Australian bush hats recently.

There must be a serious shortage of cork, the last few bottles of wine i've bought had screw tops!

That's got blow all to do with the shortage of cork. It's due to the fact that screw tops make a better seal.

Of course old Pete Jacobs, traditionalist that he is, will disagree with me.

Screw tops require a seal made of rubber/plastic or cork to create a seal. The main reason that many wine producers are converting to screwtop rather than cork stops is due to the cost and the risk of random oxidation, that is caused by the variable mechanics of cork. There is also a risk of TCA (trichloroanisole) which causes cork taint in some bottles.

Quite right John.

Bloody cork is a rank dead loss when it comes to making a seal. I dealt with the SA wine industry for many years and learned a great deal from them.

Cork makes a much better rod handle material than plastic however.

I agree Ron.

Cork is for rod handles, plastic isn't.

Copied from other post----- i am not doing anything of what you are saying, i am more than happy not to be included in the competition, and wouldn't accept the prize if i won it - it wouldn't be fair.

To be honest, i don't get all of the kit in the world to look at, and i am not sponsored, (i get 20% discount off of my tackle and thats off of RRP) it wouldn't surprise me if you could get the stuff cheaper than me from the web.

I have changed my user, to the above, so all reviews, posts etc are not advertising, as i haven't been working much i have had time to spare, and i couldn't get out fishing, or golf etc, so instead of sitting there doing nowt, i thought i would write reviews of what i have been using, even the small stuff. As you can see, i don't have the most expensive of gear, i don't have to 2 grand pole, or the 100 quid pod (i don't even have a pod) or 300 quid big pits, century rods etc.

I won't bother contributing to this forum, if that is how you and other members feel, and i apologize for any inconvenience, an a big sorry to Graham and all of his partners, and shops etc that advertise on this site,

Forum Members

I wish you all the very best in all of your fishing sessions and hope you catch the fish you want to.

Graham, sorry again for what i am accused off, i did't want to advertise, and if i did, i would of put an ad in with you, if you look through my post not very often do i mention where i work
