Hi, would like some advice on a couple of patterns of hooks to use for barbel and tench fishng.

I prefer eyed hooks and micro barbed, or eyed and barbless for open water tenching.

 Thanks in advance...nick

The Korum S3 would be a good tench hook as it's strong (not a snag hook though) and comes in small sizes.

For barbel i've gone back to the Korda Widegapes in size 12 (more like a standard 10) as they are strong, have an inturned eye and an inturned point so don't easily get blunted on rocks/ gravel etc.

Korum S3s like Trevor says are brilliant in snag free water and the ESP Raptor T6 pattern in sizes 10 and 12 for barbel fishing with pellets or 10mm boilies. The short shank and fairly wide gape give a great hookhold and I've never had one pull straight.

I have used Gardener Mugga hooks when fishing large lumps of meat on the hook, it's long shank helps keet the meat on and again they give a great hookhold whilst being incredibly strong.

Go along with Paul on the Raptors T6 although over the past 2 years have found the D7's pattern are prefered.

Mugga's will do the trick for large meat very well also the Drennen long shank crystal work well as they pull through the meat well on hooking. Don't go below a size 6 though.

I agree on the D7s, though I mostly use gamakatsu wide gapes, they look fairly ordinary, but have nice small barb and are extremely, extremely sharp..

ESP T6 here as well for barbel.

Owner C4 in size 8 for most of my fishing.

Pallatrax Hooks are the best I have found so far. Stay sharp for ages.

I use Owner C5-X in 8s and 10s,I'm very happy with them.
