Sadly I cannot show this in photos, but in narrative, as follows:
Firstly, don't use it to put shot onto your rig line, it is not designed for that, but rather to move shot up or down the line as necessary.
The 'pincer' end has two grooved slots that you place vertically on the line either side of the shot to be moved. Prior to moving the shop moisten the line either side to lubricate and avoid damaging the (fine) line.
Excert pressure by closing the jaws above and below the shot, by so doing you compress the shot and slightly open it on the line thereby allowing it to be slid up or down as the conditions require.
When you have moved the shot to the desired position you will need to nip it closed again either using your fingers or a pair of shop pliers.
To remove shot use the opposite end which has a bed and a small spike, line up the spike with the slot in the shot and apply pressure until the shop opens.
I wouldn't want to fish pole rigs particularly without having one in my box, and I use it extensively for stick float fishing too where I have a lot of small shot dwon the line.
I hope this helps.
