Now then gentlemen. Fed up with being 'done' by a young whipper snapper off the next peg? Now is your chance to fish a match with your old mates against fellow crotchety anglers suffering from prostrate problems, bad backs and stiff joints.

The match is the Van den Eynde Senior Masters at the Suffolk Water Park just outside Ipswich. The date is Wednesday 4th June and the draw is at 9.45 am fish 11.00 to 4.00. There is a cafe on site and you can park behind each peg.

Whilst carp are likely to win the event, there are plenty of tench and skimmers to go for along with a large head of roach and rudd. I would expect the winner to have a net of 50lb plus. Tickets are £20 which includes the £5 pegging fee and £15 pools.

To book your place, ring Richard on 07881 953310 or email me Richard@fishinglessons.org.uk

There was a good turn-out for the match with 29 anglers on the bank.  This meant using M1 and one bank of M2 so that each of the anglers had a lot of room.  The weather was warm but the surface of the lakes was like a mirror which always makes the fishing hard.  There were some good weights though, especially on M2 where Les Cook from Castaway, Felixstowe weighed in 51lb 8oz from peg 52 fishing a method feeder and pellet to get his name on the magnificent Van den Eynde Senior Masters winners cup for the second time in 4 years.   Over on M1, peg 5, Nick Clarke from Gipping Valley AC was catching carp, skimmers and tench on similar tactics for second.  The results were:-
1st Les Cook, Castaway, Felixstowe, Peg 52 with 51lb 8oz
2nd Nick Clarke, Gipping Valley AC, Peg 5 with 44lb 2oz
3rd Glenn Cousens, Breakaway Tackle, Peg 47 with 34lb 0oz (mostly on the pole)
4th Bob Fuller, Viscount Tackle, Peg 54 with 32lb 4oz (mostly on the pole) 5th Peter Binks, Walton on Naze, Peg 27 with 22lb 1oz
6th John Platten, Suffolk County, Peg 46 21lb 2oz
