New Zealand is an extremely sensitive country ecologically. The natural balance there is more fragile than most other (more environmentally established) countries on the planet. Who knows what the implications would be?
I'll go on to say also that no way on Earth should barbel be put in any of their river systems. It's sick how popular the fish is here and how much disrepect is had for the river habitat at the expense of some recapturing glory hunting.
I would feel desperately sorry for NZ if they had to experience modern day barbel anglers. It would destroy the best trout fishery on Earth.
Thankfully it aint ever gonna happen.
