Has anyone used those tins of sweetcorn you can buy from tackle shops made by bait companies?

If so is it better than the supermarket stuff I use - currently trying some morrisons cheap vrand at 19p for a large can

Im off to morrisons thats cheap, plain corn fish like it so dont disguise it ,that fancy stuff catches loads................of anglers.

I can't see it being any better M'lud. Unless they add something to it. Even then I'd doubt it. I have used the tinned Maize from Dynamite baits, but only because somebody gave it to me. And it is PVA friendly. Still didn't catch on that either though.  But I do catch on my own Maize bought from the pet shop or farm stores.

I was hooked

Swore I never would but succomed to a can of spicy corn whilst perusing the shelves of my local tackle shop the other day.

Will report my findings tomorrow if the dragon lets me out.

I usually get a kilo of frozen from iceland for a £1 but 19p for a large can sounds very good value.  No wonder your Lordship is extremely richer than me

Okay so the spicy corn was a complete flop even though the dragon was nice to me.

Not sure if it was the corn or me but the only thing I got was on halibut pellet.

Thumbs down for the flashy bait companies corn then

Purchased a can of dynamite corn but could see no difference to the cheap brands so gone back to aldi 25p a can and green gaint salad crunch on hook (more expensive but find it stays on hook better) and both tins together stll cost less than dynamite stuff.

M'lud is correct to question whether we are being fooled into paying too much for bait companies 'special, selected, will catch everything, unique flavoured...blah, blah, sweetcorn'.  Utter goolies.

Cheap supermarket sweetcorn is just as good.  I buy ASDA Smartprice (no preference with supermarkets - ASDA is just across the road) in both the tins and also the frozen stuff.  If I need to flavour it I will add Scopex or Strawberry just like the bait companies do.  If I need red corn, I'll dye it with a dash of Sonubaits red dye (or orange or green ......).  I've even dusted the stuff with curry powder (yup, it really works!!).

I tend to find that the cheaper varieties are firmer and bigger grained.  The Smartprice frozen stuff is large grained and I boil with a little sugar and salt and then pack in suitably sized freezer bags.  If I need to flavour or colour it I'll add it prior to freezing the stuff.

Your next question will no doubt be on the subject of super duper bait company tinned luncheon meat flavoured with exotic (and unobtainable to the average angler) ingredients like ....... curry powder, strawberry, halibut etc.  Another bloody rip off.
