hello everyone.

does any one have any tips for the river dane. im fishing day ticket at the mo under the middlewich anglers stretch by byley bridge. iv been fishing the stretch on and off for a few years now and had a couple of gud chub of just under 5lb but only had a couple of barbel the biggest of which being 1lb 6oz. does anyone no any good methods for the dane. i seem to be getting most of my luck on pellets at the mo. i dnt know if any of you fish that area of the river but advice on pegs would be good too. iv seen in a previous discussion people talking about croxton lane, does any one no if thats day ticket?

thank you

Baz is your man for info. On the warrington stretch i use hemp and lucheon meat for the chub. never had a Barbel yet of the Dane. Planning on fishing it before the BS meeting next month.

jon,
I'd stick with Bryans advice at the moment, and fish meat on the hook, size 8 Drennan boilie hooks are what I use. with chopped meat and hemp as a freebie. Bread flake should be good aswell on a size 6 hook. Kamasan B983 are a good flake hook, they are great for chub, but a bit on the light side for barbel. keep liquidised or mashed bread going in with a feeder.
Croxton is only day ticket during midweek.

You look familiar jon. Did I speak to you last year on the Ribble? You were fishing near the farm in winter if it was you. I was just downstream of you with another bloke.
(trying to cash in on your'e freebies)

nope wasnt me baz i only normally fish the dane and tarporley angling club waters. well apart from when i went the severn in bewdley the other week and had the 9,4 in the photo.
i might give croxton lane abash this week then, any pegs in particular that you would recommend..
have you caught many fish from the dane baz?
i normaly try trotting it with my pin but not had much look, so you woud recommend feeder tactics with either mashed bread and bread on the hook then or meat and groundbait with hemp in it? never fished with bread on the dane before? i generally preffer to role a leger than use feeders.
cheerz for the advice.

Jon,
I normally use a quivertip for flake and meat fishing. If you are going to floatfish it, try a grain of hemp on a size 18 hook for the chub. And keep the feed going in on a regular basis.
Have a look on the home page under storys.
I have done a couple of articles on the Dane.
Early Days, and Dabbling on the Dane.
I will e-mail you with other information.

It may help if you call in Dave's of Middlewhich for more advice. Turn left by the church traffic lights towards Sandbach, and you will find his shop a few hundred yds on the left hand side.

Sorry Jon, I can't e-mail you with more info, as you do not have youre e-mail adress availiable on youre profile. E-mail me if you like with youre phone number and we can have a chat. As I don't like to give locations on the open forum.
Cheers,
Baz.

Hi lads ,i fish the bay malton stretch of the river at cotton farm, i was on there yesterday and the river was very low,but i caught 3 nice chub about 4lb each and a very welcome barbel of 7lb on meat and ground bait feeder. most of the pegs below byley hold fish, but i dont think there are too many barbel on the stretch, althogh there are a couple of pegs they regularly come off .It all depends on the level and colour ,if its gin clear you'll have to wait for dusk to catch on the meat or pellet
