What ho chaps

After getting a good soaking a couple of weeks ago I've decided to buy a day shelter for those times when the brolly can keep up with the weather - which of these 2 can anyone recommend.

If your`e still getting a good soaking whilst sitting under your brolly, then the answer is pretty clear....your butler isn`t holding it properly.

Well M'lud,

The Korum shelter is a great bit of kit, that can be ajusted so you can have it low if your in a chair or high if on a seat box.

I have stayed overnight in ours with a bedchair no problem.
Very light, very easy to put up and take down, and stable with good pegs.

Once you have one of these, your butler will be free to make the tea.

why not get the force 8 proper bivvy then take out the inner section you would have the best of everything then. i dont like these day shelter things just a cut down version of a proper bivvy for around 80% of the price.
Gavin old chum

To be honest I'd not thought of that

Why cut out the inner, what a waste, and these shelters you can get for about £60, you wont get a good bivvy for that.

And these shelters fit in tight swims, bivvys dont.

Bivvys also weigh so much more and also take longer to put up.

The korum one is much better than the TFG one, but personally i have a Stealth Brolly, which i use for short sessions and long sessions.

Ive got a korum amd it's a brilliant piece of kit, a lot more shelter than a brolly.

Lord Paul, get your butler to fan you continuously throughout the day then rub you down with a damp copy of The Sporting Life.....works wonders for the circulation m'lud.

no no i dont mean to literally cut it out, on the tfg force 8 bivvy the whole interior detaches with toggles. In essence the tfg shelter is the bivvy without the interior.

Dont be faffing about with bivvies Lord, get yourself a brolly with stormsides up in seconds and you could also use it for bivvying up.Plus you can add winter skins and the like if ever required.about 70 sheets will see you right.

Please excuse the reviving of this post M'Lud,

I too am looking into these shelters over the humble umbrella.

Headroom you see.

I've been looking at the TFG and Chub Cyclone.

Does anyone have any opinions on the Cyclone especially.

I don't have the means to extract taxes from the simple folk but believe I can unearth sufficient booty.

Dofs cap.

Me too. I have two shelters for those longer barbel sessions and both have dimensions suitable for those anglers who use a bedchair i.e. too big. I'm looking for something smaller that will fit into tight swims.

I like the look of the Korum shelter but I understand that when it packs down the curved spars make it bulky. I've considered a smaller oval type shelter - I already have the Fishrite one- but after an experience last year I'm not sure about their stability in strong winds.

I looked at some of the oval brollies available and they are huge not to mention heavy.

I've managed a season and a half with the Wychwood 50" brolly, the one with the sides but it is a little to low and I end up ducking in between the internal spokes when trying to keep my legs dry.

My particular need is for something light and relatively compact (enough to fit in Drennan Specialist Quiver) but without skimping on the space underneath.

I don't think, from what I've read, that the Korum is too great on the compactness. I may be wrong.

I will still use the brolley or good waterproofs for roaming the rivers but the situation I find myself in now is day sessions on wind swept lakes leading into the occasional over night session.

One solution is to contact a relatively small manufacturer like Aqua and see if they'll make a custom shelter to order. Looking at their prices it might prove a bit expensive though.

Sorry to hijack the thread Lord Paul.

Dave

What one did you go for Lord Paul?

Has any bought the Korum or TF Gear day shelter.

If so, what one is best and are they 100% waterproof?

If anyone wants a korum day session shelter,i have one brand spanking new, never been out of it`s bag and i`m never likely to use it.....£45 and it`s yours.
