Brief description of the session & remarks:..Good session with river slowly falling but loads of dead laves coming down had to recast every 15 mins. I was expecting the odd barbel to show and the big one did after only 20 min of stating the session. I nearly lost my rod, and yes I was watching it, it flew out of my butt rod rest and the reel jammed in my front rod rest just long enough for me to dive after it. Re set my bait runners on both rods, nearly every bit was like the first one and even the big chub took the rod out of the butt rest before the bait runner kicked in. This was on the edge of your seat fishing, no dozing on this session, the big barbel was just 2oz below my PB. I'm not the weakest of 60 year olds but I was struggling to hold my specimen landing net in the flow of the river but at least there was no strong gusts of wind to tip me in, I didn't fancy swimming about in Preston docks! Nice walk back to my van in the moonlight even though I did end up on my backside a couple of times, still a bit slippy under foot.
