The Vienne and Haut Vienne, like much in France, contains many undiscovered Gems. Plan to be in France again this summer - Lot or Loire...just cannot decide!! porbably the Lot as i have a mate who has a "property" (or shack!) near Carjac. Handy for the Cahors and Marcillac vinyards...and only a couple of hours drive to friends..in the Madiran vinyards. Gosh..life can be hard..especially if the exchange rate with the Euro keeps on going in the wrong direction. Always said we should have joined the Euro from day one...but politicians...they never think do they!!!

hi mate i am sponsered . but what a bream fishing holiday it was mel
|
 |
I would guess many counties in the UK could offer similar sport for bream! I personally can't see many people getting on the ferry to go to France to catch bream of a similar stamp to what we already have available the UK.
|
 |
 i am sponsered .
maybe you should make that plain when you posted.....

A 4.5 acre lake and 200lb bags of bream? bang a couple of pike in!

Is this not just a bit like fishing an overstocked commercial fishery............................................................. in a different country?? I can shoot fish in barrel 5 miles away for £6? If it were a natual unstocked 200 acre lake, I could see the excitement, but 4 acres of wall to wall fish..........seems a long way to go for that!

I don't really get Bream. OK, they are a challenge in a big clear stillwater. Work out the route they move around the water, best feeding times, etc etc But as for landing a succession of average fish that don't fight: It must be great to do this with some like minded mates, a great holiday I'd imagine. For the first day at least. If thats all that fishing had to offer though, i'd take up golf.

hi all. i think a few people are narrow minded, its not just the fishing ,its a cracking holiday aswell. as to throw pike in that says it all. i look at it the other way.by the time someone goes down south for hols,i can be in france.cheaper and fishing/bagging up/..better climate. and if someone knows where you can catch bream like that over here.let me know..but fishing is everyones own preference. as for bream dont fight.you wont know till you have caught in france . all the best mel l

I'd go the France...but to get away from bream, we even have them in the Wear these days.

Put enough bream in any 4 acre lake and you can have fishing like that anywhere. There are plenty of places in this country that will provide excellent bream fishing from lakes and reservoirs that have a natural balance in terms of fish stocks. I am sure it's a good holiday and any fishing holiday goes way beyond just fishing. But, I'd rather catch big weights of bream from somewhere like Loch Derg, than a small stocked water. Each to their own though.

Hi Melvyn...........i adore France, i almost moved there, i also love bream fishing..........but not for masses of them in a small lake. I certainly would not make a planned holiday to France to fish for them......not with all that France has to offer in the way of "wild" fishing. As you say each to there own...........the pike bit was tongue in cheek (ish)

 |
hi paul c........./brummie/ like i said mate all to there own,i was like you, fished ireland for 20 years.stop going 6years ago because of the decline of bream.which everybody knows.even fished loch derg 3 years running. all i am doing is letting people know, there is a cracking bream/good holiday to have out there . as for the holiday, anyone can go. book plane book caravan book bait .food.drink all fishing gear provided picked up at airport.dropped back off ........no hassle........ all the best with the fishing tight lines mel
