im going tench fishing in a lake about 8ft dep what groundbait should i use ( i want the best groundbait for tench)  and any suggestion for hook baits?

Here is a tench groundbait mixture that has worked a treat over the years.

2 bags Van Den Eynde Expo, One sliced loaf of bread, two cans of sweet corn, 2 pints of red maggots, two pints of casters, 2 pints of squats, two pints of hemp, two pints of stewed wheat, one bag of 2mm sinking halibut pellets - Sonu do good ones.

Mix the whole lot together and deposit into the swim the evening before the session. A good raking might also be in order.

Mixes like these has given me tench bags of up to 350lbs in the past.

tench like a sweet groundbait i use a 50/50 mix of expo and brown crumb with red maggots and sweetcorn with some liquid molasses and a few small halibut pellets but you could put other things in like hemp casters chopped worm. hookbait maggot sweetcorn meat casters plastic corn worms boilies pellets lots of things.

Hope there are lots of Tench in the lake!!

If not a couple of pints of casters and hemp?

Personally, I'd opt for:

Sensas 3000 Heavy FOND, added to with van den Eynde Bloodmeal, and whatever hook bait(s) you intend to use. I prefer corn, casters and/or chopped worm, either in singles or in cocktails.

Rake the swim well, if allowed, put in your groundbait, make a couple of cups of coffee or tea, then fish it!

which type of feeder is best because i havent got a rake and it can get weedy at times

If your putting in plenty ground bait, leave off the feeder it only adds to weed pickup.

Casters hemp & corn. hookbait red worm tippped with corn.

dont ignore the bottom of nearside shelf the tench could be and more than likely are close in 3 jaffas and a bed of caster close in wont hurt even if you intend fishing further out you will soon know if good tench move over it.
