In the Noth West of England morris sides have always included femals as well as males, as far back as about the early 1800's.
In the South ladies were admitted to morris sides from about 1980 onwards.
Morris dancing can aslo include sword dancing, as in the Rapper side and the Flamborough Head long sword sides.
Out of interest, the morris group is only ever descirbed as; a morris team, or a morris side, and in the cotext of morris dancing the word is not capitalised as it is not a common noun.
