Hello all

I'm off on an opportunist holiday driving around Europe and can't go without taking in some opportunist fishing so was wondering if anyone had any recomendations for a general purpose travel rod fit for all round fishing. Ideally something with an avon type test curve that could be used to float fish or leger. Not really keen on telescopic rods.

Would appreciate any advice.

try the shimano tribal med specialist travel 12 ft with a t/c of 1 1/2 i think ,6 pieces plus quiver tips ,cost about £100 but a very nice rod to use ,have had some double figure wild river carp out on it in france and will handle 12lb line no prob

Thanks for the replies.

Looked at both rods and mant others. Just ordered the shimano, a bit pricey but it looks the most versatile and I should get loads of use from it over the years.

Totally agree with Fred (and Clive the Compact Angler; where are you matey?),

JW Young Travel Barbel without a shadow the best global-roaming rod I've ever owned...
