I've read this thread with interest, and I still can't decide. Is it a genuine enquiry from James Lynch 2, or is it a very clever leg pull ? If he is taking the mickey, he's done it so well that Graham Marsden should give him a prize - how about a dozen cans of Stella and a beef vindaloo delivered to his bivvy door?

Defo not a leg pull, Lynchies my cousin. He does go fishing on the Dearne. Going spinning on Dearne this weekend, anyone seen any Trout come out in Barnsley area? James, do ya get owt wen ya darn near Wickes? Went other day and only had Perch, no Chud or Barbel t be seen.
Glad I don't fish the Dearne...
Why not Christian, if ya try it theres no going back, you'll love the taste of pure nature. You'll also feel much better about catching from a natural environment and not a man made, man stocked lake.
Yes True Nick, I've only ever fished man made lakes and I detest fishing rivers. I don't live anywhere near the Dearne so fishing it would be out of the question anyway. "can pitch a bivvy up and maybe a fue more bivvys just incase the lads come.Anyone welcome to join if they like!! Fue bevvys and a BBQ" To my mind this is why a lot of us love fishing rivers because it gives us a chance to escape from all of this sterotypical commercial lake behaviour.
Try up towards Darton Nick Christian you fibber! The Dearne's a proper man's river, but you do need a flat cap and a whippet to fish it effectively.
hi chris were abouts do u live i live at mexboro rd have u been catching pike on dearne all im catching are chub n bream my mates have gad barbel upto 13lb at back of horses field.
hi pal i've had pike out all over dearne from down near stickin hill all the way up to broomhill i live on broadwater in bolton so i'm out my back gate and over feild to river it's too easy i like spinning cause i can travel light and cover more water plus it keeps you warm now winter is here the horse feild off dearne rd holds some good fish barbel to 14 chub to 4+ and a few good perch loads of sport on light gear
Nick unfortunatley most of the Dearne as it is now is man made, have a good luck at google earth and you'll see vast areas of unatural straight river and the old meandering course a meadow/feild or two away, sad but true. Must agree though it is rather adictive, and holds some fantastic fish, and lots of it are virtually untouched.
