Deanos, like you I use a Greys 1.7lb prodigy Barbel rod for normal river conditions and also for Chub, Tench, Crucians and floater fishing for Carp.

For flood conditions I use an old 12' 2lb TC Diawa Powermesh Carp rod. Ideally I would like to use a longer rod for flood conditions but as I rarely fish floods these days the 12' 2lb TC Carp rod will suffice for now.

deanos do you really need a new rod ? try fishing upstream and use the flow off the river to your advantage cast out upstream after your bait hits the bottom lift the rod tip up ( your bail arm is still off at this point so the flow off the rivier takes you slack line up and helps pin your line down ) I am sure some better angkers than me on hear will be able to explain this better than me but i will be fishing with you in a few weeks i will try and show you then

and btw dont buy a greys untill i see you i have a spare one you can have on a long term borrow untill you decide if you like one
