Hi,
i live very close to the river Penk and will be fishing it this wednesday!! (cant wait!) i was just wondering if anyone has ne good tactics for me or really good spots to fish it. Where i am going on wednesday has lots of chub and it will b easy to catch them but i would like to move upstream a bit to find some roach and whatever else the river has to offer. Thankyou John

I don't know anything about this river, but have passed it many times and it looks a very nice little river, similar to the Dane.

Where abouts are you fishing it? Near Penkridge?
There's a spot beside the M6 with a little bridge going over it and every time I pass by, it looks very appetising below the bridge!

PS Who controls the fishing on it?

Hi Paul,
Its a smashing stretch and it's looked after by Stafford County Officers A.C.

Having fished lower down than the staffs club water. I have to say roach seem very thin on the ground. The main species is chub up to approx 5lb. The other species seen or caught have been trout, barbel, bream, perch and pike.

Hi, I fished the river penk in February and had a great time.

We started to fish above the rail bridge where it becomes quite windy.

Slowly moved down trotting with bread, took two chub right by the bridge where the water deepend to about four foot. Then moved on again down stream, theres a lot of shallow water all the way down to a small pumping station where we took one more chub.Unfortunatly there were no other fish showing.

After packing up we drove further down stream and found a lovely looking streach that runs parrallel to the canal. Unfortunately the water is controlled by WULA (weston under lizard) and we dont have cards for them.

The river certainly has lots of potential and it is definately somewhere I will be returning to.

The streach you mentioned by the river has some quite threatening boards up, not sure who the club  is though..

 Tight lines...
