Hi,
I have an old fibre glass spinning rod,which has more santimental value for me,than anything else and which I intend to refurbish.
I want to varnish it and to exchange the guides with SIC ones , but I don't know what sizes I should use,because I can't relay on the old ones.Could you please give me some tips about it(the rod is 6"6') and how to varnish it, what kind of varnish is best to use

Antoni, SIC probably too modern - would not be original spec. Hopkins and Holloway do older-style Seymo rings - with chromed frames with imitation agate liners - which woild be more in keeping with the style of the rod. I've restored a few oldies with their stuff. Very helpful firm and do a useful brochure containing rod-building tips and photos.
