Happy New Year to one and all as well, esp the saddos who've had to put up with me on the bank and the one's who are going to get the pleasure next year.
Must say while I didn't catch much last season, the company was top-notch.
This season's going much better and has already thrown up several golden moments.
Best in recent weeks was when I had a half decent fish and decided it was really pretty, best thing I've caught all week, can I have a picture.
Put it over the side in the net, get the camera sorted, hand it to my mate. Fish out, hold it up, mate's going click, click.
That OK..? I ask, have you got it. Mate looks at screen on back of camera.
Yeah, I reckon.
Fish goes back and for a brief moment, I have this sensation of total wellbeing.
Yeah Bish - I reckon I made you look like you was holding it like a total paraplegic says mate.
Err...
Then there were the hiccupping ducks. Had a bankside feed-up, pans and plates all piled up when we finish munching and go back to fishing.
See these ducks pecking the last few bits off the plate, so gave them all the chilli beans left in the bottom of the pan.
One duck ate a lot. And I mean a lot of them.
They're swimming along, throwing in the odd quack now and then, when the one that ate all the beans starts looking a bit iffy.
All of a sudden, its bill's in the water and it can't get enough to drink. Is it trying to drink the lake..?
Then it fluffs its feathers right up and "Qua-a-a-huccup.." "Qua-a-a-huccup...",
totally amazing, I was pissing myself.
I've never seen a duck have hiccups. Maybe you had to be there.
