A traffic warning to all who intend coming to the Barbel Society conference.
The M69/A5 junction, (the big island just before the Hinckley Island Hotel) has major roadworks on it at present, and according to the Highways agency website, will be closed completely next weekend.
At present it is down to one lane around it, but there are signs up warning of closures off peak. The website says that it will be open from 6am to 8pm during the week but closed completely for next weekend.
If this does happen, and you are coming from the M6, M69 or A5 West directions, you will need to take an alternative route. If you are coming from the A5 East, you will be ok.
I will check the situation as the week goes on, and as soon as I have further information I will post, with suggested alternate routes too if necessary.
If you know of anyone who is coming to conference but who does not look in on the forum, perhaps you could let them know too.

An update.
I have just spoken to one of the engineers involved with the work, and things are not as bad as they were.
The M69/A5 roundabout will be open at the weekend. It will be coned down to one lane, but will definately be open.
If you are coming from the M1/M69 or M1/A5 way, you will be fine. If you are coming from the M6/M69 you will also be fine.
The only problem will be if you are travelling along the A5 from Tamworth direction. A 2 mile section of the A5 just before you reach the Hinckley Island Hotel will be closed. There are local diversion signs up that will take you around it, but they will add about 10 minutes to your journey.

 Chuffed you enjoyed it!

It's easy to give a talk, but very hard to be as entertaining as Swordsy, and have the confidence to pull it off. Well Done mate,Brilliant. All the other speakers were superb, and Stuart and Guys dvd should be a classic, with some brilliant footage on it,underwater and above. Yesterday, the BS showed the side that is terrific, and they put on a great show. Yes,numbers were down, and the trade stands were moaning about the cost, but the venue is undeniably good as long as the nos are there to finance it. I did end up taking loads of photos, even my old mate the Pope was suprised to see me there,as were a few others(smiley face),but it was a great day,and I was very pleased to see old freind ,and unsung stalwart,John Found pick up the Gordon Scott award for his unstinting service and loyalty to the BS. Well Done Chaps, you done good (Applause) Pons

Had a call from the Pope last night. Reckons you left your laptop at the Vatican in all the excitement.
Tried calling but your home number is blocking calls for some reason. He'll contact you about picking it up in due course.
Top talk by all accounts, well done!
