is a preston carbonactive 10ft twin tip feeder a useful piece of kit to have in the bag. I have a chance of buying one at the right price and wonder if a 10ft feeder rod is long enough

Depends how far you want to throw a feeder mate. If you're just fishing waters where a shortish chuck is needed, say up to 25-30 yards or so, then 10ft is probably fine. But any further out and you'd be better off buying something 11-12ft.

Thanks EC,
I don't chuck very far so maybe it would do. I wonder if it is suitable for match carp fishing

yes DAVE, it is a good piece of kit, i own one and also three other carbon actives cant fault them, if its at right price then buy it, it does say CARP ON ROD

Ive got one and its a great rod but like anything it depends what you want to use it for.

Its absolutely perfect for chucking small bomb/ method feeder 20-40max yards- it has a great action. If you get a chance to buy this rod you wont regret it.

In fact Ive been looking for a 11-12ft version of the same rod, maybe a little beefier for control on casting 40plus yards but for some reason Preston do not do it.

Hi Stevie
thanks for your answer. At my age I can hardly cast 50 yards so it sounds perfect for me. You did not say if it is suitable for match carp

If its the rod ive got It will have Sentient Carp on it, im pretty sure its the one as its the only 10ft feeder rod they do.

Ive had fish to 18lb on it so yes it can handle carp, a lot of the match lads use the 10ft and the 11/13ft although the latter is a softer rod for use with slightly lighter lines
