No need to wash them Gary, chopping wise there's no set rules, about one or two centimetre chunks as a rough guide from personal use.

The amount to feed depends on how your swim is fishing. again a general rule is keep feeding until and while you're getting bites, if they slow down then feed a bit less to get them competing again.

Fish half or a whole worm with the end nipped off on the hook.

You can bulk them out with additives, again depends how you're fishing. If you added groundbait you could ball it in and ensure that it gets to the bottom fast or cup them in neat and fish on the drop, your choice.

Hope that helps.

Sorry thanks Paul that was very helpful and will try it out this weekend. Have just started out using Fishing magic so bit slow and learning how to use it. Thanks again

No worries Gary.

Maggots and casters will keep longer in the fridge. Freezing them will kill maggots (suprisingly) and I think it makes casters soft (or they split or something not good).

Does chucking a good hanful of maize flour in the tub help, I know they do it when you buy them, and if you keep them a couple of days it can get quite wet in the box.

Does riddling and re dusting with maize help prolong their life in the fridge?

I work in a shop and them maize meal stops them sweating they should be riddled every day and redusted

dont freze casters (cant remember why ) because it just dosent work as they are too delicate (i think now)

Once out of the freezer maggots need to be used up quickly before they go mushy etc

I think the maize meal is really good,BUT I suggest that putting maggots straight into a fridge after being out in a warm atmosphere(summertime especially) for the day MAYBE the cause of them sweating. When returning home I tend to transfer them to a larger(deep)tin-preferably plastic and put them on the floor of the garage and allow them to cool down slowly.I then add the maize and do what AvonAquatics does and change the maize every couple of days. Then put in fridge if necesary but the garage is okay except in extreme heat!!

In a tackle shop the maggots are in a constant temperature so sweating does not take place-just like us we sweat when out in the heat!!

Personally,I treat casters the same way(temperature-wise)but do put them the fridge on a low setting just to keep them cool.I have found they go a darker colour anyway but they do last some days.If you sniff them you will know if they have gone-off and they can spoil a good swim but darker ones I use in balls of groundbait.

Best thing is to buy in small amounts and take the trouble to make trips to the shop as required. My local shop has a ordering hotline which means I can order the day before and pick up whenever.Fresh casters are worth the trouble!!

I hope we see more tips from others on this subject-its good to learn....
