Many years ago I enjoyed a holiday in a hotel in Ringwood which had all needed for a fishing holiday - their own stretch of water (including a weirpool) - tackle shed, packed lunches etc.

At the time I think the Hotel was called the Avon Hotel.

Can anyone advise me of similar available now.

With thanks,

There is a B&B catering for anglers within a couple of hundred yards of where the long gone Avon Hotel was, and the two stretches of water - Lifelands and Ringwood fishery - are still available for day tickets. Try contacting Avon Angling or Ringwood Tackle, both West street, Ringwood for more info.

They have a list of all the b & bs, plus regular updates to condition.

Sandy Balls near Fordingbridge have their own stretch of the Avon.

Sandy Balls is real, believe it or not?  What joker came up with that name?

Good luck Chris, have a good time.

You get sandy balls when you go swimming off of Margate beach , when you swim at Whitstable you get crabs .
