It would seem that the record for Silver Bream has been reduced to 2lb 2oz from 2lb 2oz 8drams which was accepted according to the BRFC press release in March 2006 refering to a fish caught on 14th April 2005 at Mill Farm Sussex. (See press release dated March 2006 on the following website http://www.nfsa.org.uk/ under the link British Record List, Press release).

Surely this is a typo in your article dated 15/05/08 as it also says that the meeting was held on 7th May 2007 which would appear to be another typo as surely you would not be publishing a press release on 15/05/2008 of a meeting held that long ago.

John

What's happened to the crucian carp claim - di=oes anyone know?  Peter Rolfe

Peter,

After scales checks it turned out that it was slightly short of the existing record hence no claim.

Mark

The meeting was the one in 2008 not 2007. It looks like the silver bream is incorrectly listed in the main list; mind you, with two hybrids and a non-angling caught misidentification in the lists the odd half ounce is nothing to worry about...

The Crucian Carp claim was not considered as all of the papers had not yet been submitted by the captor.

The silver bream record was correctly recorded on the list at 2 lb 2 oz this being the weight that would have been recorded had the captors scales been accurate. Alan Storey's fish will be recorded at 2 lb 2 oz again the weight that we would have been recorded had his scales been accurate. Two fish therefore share the record.

The committee is very concerned to ensure species identification is as accurate as possbile inclusing the use of DNA. Significant progress has been made on this front since the last meeting in October.

I have been passed information regarding the existing Sea Trout record which will be bought to the attention of the commitee.
