Hi,

Anyone used a TFGear X-Plus Multi-tip ?  I like the idea of so many options in one rod but am worried that performance maybe sacrificed.  Thoughts/experiences?

Also, If you have any thoughts on a good 'bait runner' style reel for fishing smallish rivers for Barbel I'd be interested.  Considering a BAITRUNNER AERO GTE 5000 C.  Poss team up with heavier tips on above rod.

Cheers

Mark.

Mark the rod should be fine ,I have multi tip rods and they are very versatile .The John Wilson quiver rod has gained cult status and that is a multi tip rod. They will never be quite as efficient as a rod of each curve bought seperatly but I am a fan of them as they can be put to so many different uses. Most companies do a range of smaller baitrunners suited to that rod Okuma Interceptors are well priced ,but make sure it fits the rod handle you buy.

Thanks Gav, I've also considered the John Wilson.  I'm returning to fishing after a number of years absence and am overwhelmed by the kit on offer.  Your comments are most welcome!  I'm sure someone fishing at my level will not notice slight inefficienices in such rods, I just want make sure I'm not spend money unwisely.

Okuma; seen them advertisied but not looked into, but will now.  I have to admit to really liking the Shimano reels as the couple I have are so smooth in their operation and are a pleasure to  fish with.  Hence I'm considering another.  Fox is another make that seems to have a good reputation for this type of reel too.  Decsions decsions!

Cheers

The rod does seem a tad pricey though,I got a wychwood 1.5 plus a 2lb top for sixty quid ,that would leave you room to get the wilson with quiver tops as well,as for reels the makes you describe are good but I am a Northnner so like something slightly cheaper. Also the 1.7 is not really a floodwater rod if you fish big rivers.Best of luck to you anyway Mark.Someone with experience of using top end tackle might be able to advise you better.

I have had Shimano and Okuma small bait runners, but am well sold on the fox range now. Light enough for chub and bream, heavy enough for barbel and carp.

They are most excellent!

Thanks fellas, I'll let you know what I decide on and how it turns out when in use.
