I've been trying the new version of Mozilla Firefox (Firefox 3) for the past week and believe me - it's fast! Something like 5 times faster than Internet Explorer. It already has the best browser security on the net and the other new features in this new version are excellent. It's a free download - Give it a try. You don't have to ditch Internet Explorer, you can use both.

Good isn't it! If only I can persuade the rest of the family to get off Hotmail etc and I could eradicate Internet Explorer.

Mozilla's other products, Thunderbird for email, and the Lightning calendar, are also coming along nicely. I use them all the time now - the calendar hooked into Googlemail's calendar so I can update it and read it from any computer, yet it down/uploads in the background. Outlook is a better calendar, with more functions, but it's heavyweight and takes ages to load. Lightning's like, er, lightning. The other area for Mozilla fans to explore is the add-ons - all written as betas by other Mozilla fans. Sun Cult, for example, gives you the day's sunset and sunrise, and a prediction calendar, and the moon phase. Very good for anglers. It's just unfortunate that it's not possible to bin IE altogether, but Mr Gates has seen to it you could more easily rid the rivers of carp....

'kin'ell that is quick!!!!!! Any info regarding download speeds (spent ages last night downloading a Land Rover parts catalogue!!!) Steve

I use the ebay add-on, shows all your items in a side bar and gives you a warning when an item is approaching it's end time. Neat! No more missing a last minute bargain while typing up quotes etc. On a completely different tack. The update for Java was loaded up sunday and everything is working much slower. Will be uninstalling Java completely later and trying a reinstall.

Most of the stuff that is free is developed initially by linux users as a free source and all the stuff I have used it is far superior to M/S. These programmes are developed from the input of all linux users, tweaks here, suggestions there and the result that we see is the result of input from hundreds of thousands of computer geeks and is forever being improved on. I have just ditched microsoft office and downloaded for free Open Office also a linux programme and believe me it is far and away a better programme than M/S office. You can open word documents, PPS video files in fact all of Microsoft's stuff and it doesn't cost you a penny.

You'll all be using Ubuntu next and ditching XP/Vista altogether!!!!!

The only problem I have found is that the toolbars do not display when replying to posts in MSN Groups.

You can't use Egg Bank's Money Manager facility on it, for some reason that only works with Explorer but aside from that it's quality.

Why are you saving eggs Paul?

It's a feature on their website which logs into all the accounts you've registered with them (regardless of who it's with) so you can see all your balances at the same time.
