I use an old-ish Browning 2¼lbs T/C 13' rod coupled to a Shimano 5010 as I love the clutch/drag on those. I tend to use 6lb or 8lb B/S line and treat it to float, except the last foot or so.

Typically I'll use a flavoured dog biscuit either on a hair or banded to the hook.

I like the extra length of the 13' rod as it helps to pick the line up off of the surface a little quicker than a 12' or 11' rod.
