These are intended for whipping (hence the name) ouit snall fish - such as bleak - at speed in matches, using fine tackle. As such, it is not *(repeat not) suitable for carp around 2-3 pounds. I'd keep it for its intended purpose and get a 1-11 metre pole for carping. You can pick something reasonable up for around £100.
