I'd have a look at the Drennan series 7 reels which go for about £38 new.
I just like the fact that they come with three spools of about 100M capacity.
No faffing around with backing.
I'm more than happy with mine.

A second-hand Shimano Supermatch. I have 2; they're as smooth as silk. have a great clutch and are pretty much bomb-proof. Mine haven't been serviced, oiled or otherwise pampered in the slightest and still run like a swiss watch after years of abuse.
As an added bonus they come with 3 shallow match spools as standard which are very often still with the reel when advertised.
Expect to pay around £40 for a good 'un; a bit more for a minter.
