Hi guys,
I have returned to the sport after 20yrs after being given a cheap setup for my birthday. To be honest all i have done is chuck maggots in a swim feeder and go to some free water on the trent. until recently i had some cracking perch and the odd other small fish. Now the weathers gone its getting hardwork so ive decided to move on. Ive also been getting some bits together, good nets, seat, rests, feeder arm. Now i want to look at a slightly better rod/reel but without breaking the bank.

Im near the soar and a local club has just introduced 1000 barbel so id like to have a go at a barbel setup.
Remember i know nothing really so need FULL set up advice including bait and types of feeder, everything from the beginning. mixing the bait, sizing of rigs the whole works.

Thanks in advance for any help

what sort of sizes are you talking as this will dictate the type of rod and reel also what sort of budget as you may be able to manage with what you have allowing you so add a bit more to your budget. :)

the biggest in the swim to date is 10lb, apparently the new stock are 4"fish.
